In 1943 accompanied by her mother, she traveled half way across the country to marry the love of her life, Wayne J. Dressel, before he left for World War II. As members of the Greatest Generation, he became a war hero and she became a mother. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage.
She was a long time member of the O’Fallon United Church of Christ and was active in the Womens’ Guild, Mary Martha Society and Quilters. Katherine was a member of the O’Fallon Chapter #487 order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron.
Her main joy in life was her family and the time she spent with them. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Violia; husband, of 59 years, Wayne and her beloved granddaughter, Susannah Cook Marison. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Bruce N.) Cook; grandchildren, Bruce R. Cook, Michael N. (Kori) Cook and grandson-in-law, Matthew (Susannah) Marison; great-grandchildren, Emma Cook, Anna Marison, Benjamin Cook, Jacob Marison, John Cook, Sarah Cook, Thomas Cook and Madeline Cook.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 12:00pm in the funeral home with an additional visitation from 11:00am until time of the service. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or BJC Hospice.
