He was born March 30, 1943 in Highland, Illinois as the third of six children to Edward and Irene (Baer) Hoffmann.
Ken or Kenny as he was also known as, was a hard worker. He had a very strong work ethic developed by starting work at age 12 spotting pins at the VFW and cutting grass. Then, around age 13 or 14, he began working at the concession stands that his parents owned and ran at the park in Highland.
He served in the Army for 3 years and returned to the Highland to marry his first wife Kay Ann and have their first daughter Tammy. He worked in several different fields, before purchasing a dairy route delivering dairy products for Ecco, then later purchasing an eighteen-wheeler, and delivering cookies and seeing a large part of the country, which he very much enjoyed. After marrying his second wife, Nancy and expanding his family, he settled into a career at the City of Highland. He was an active member of the Woodmen of the World. When he retired, he and Nancy moved to West Frankfort, Illinois where he maintained the Woodman Camp. He loved the outdoors, fixing, inventing, and tinkering with many things, so it was a good transition for him. A few years later, when Nancy started travel nursing, they spent some time in Arizona, Florida and North Carolina before settling in Alabama, near Nancy's daughter Jenny, where he volunteered at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, a hobby he really enjoyed. He also enjoyed time with his grandchildren, playing cards, as well as baking and eating desserts or making oatmeal pancakes for his family.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his three children, two step-children, nine grandchildren and a great grandchild: Tammy (Aaron) Welsh, and their sons Brad (Brandy) Welsh and daughter Adaya Welsh, Brent Welsh and significant Arianna Brackins; Robert (Tina) Hoffmann, and their sons Marcus Hoffmann, Oliver Hoffmann, and Benjamin Hoffmann; Erica Hoffmann and partner Laura Kastraba and their children Alex and Ellie; step-children Scott (Petra) Gilmore; Jenny (Stan) French and their children Lauren French, Hayley French, Morgan French, Luke French.
