

LaVerne graduated from Roosevelt High School.
LaVerne was employed by SLARC, Emerson Electric, McDonald Douglas, and John Knox Church. She retired from Boeing.
LaVerne volunteered her time, after retiring, to helping children improve their reading skills through the Oasis organization, for more than 10 years in St. Louis, Missouri and Fairview Heights, Illinois.
LaVerne was active at Shiloh Church in Shiloh, Illinois, helping with preparing monthly newsletters. For many years, she enjoyed helping with weekly church-wide dinners. She and Walter belonged to The Golden Club, where they formed many close and lasting friendships.
As a Christian, LaVerne’s funeral is a Homecoming and Victory Service because of the surety of Eternal Life with the Lord for all who believe that Jesus Christ is Savior and Redeemer.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Klingemann; her loving husband, Walter Louis Slawski; sister, Eunice (Charles) Squires; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Slawski.
To cherish LaVerne’s memory are her daughter: Deborah (Don) Woodward, and sons: Randell (Patti) Slawski and Daniel (Jo) Slawski; grandsons: Jeff (Dana) Woodward, Ryan (Matt Hudgins) Slawski, Daniel (Laura) Slawski, Jr., Joshua (Ali) Slawski, and Benjamin (Mia) Slawski; great-grandsons: Zak (Sarah) Woodward, Lincoln Slawski, Milo Slawski, and Isaac Slawski; and great-great-granddaughter: Emma Grace Woodward.
A visitation for LaVerne will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the committal.
