Marla Burge

Marla Pearl Burge, 76, of Valley Park, MO, formally of Fairview Heights, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was born October 7, 1946 in Pinckneyville, IL to Louis and Lela (Byrd) Behnken. Marla married Victor C. Burge Jr. June 21, 1969 at First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, IL, where they spent the next 50 years. She was a teacher at Scott Air Force Base and retired from William Holliday Elementary School where she taught first grade. She enjoyed cruises and traveling with her husband, Victor. Marla loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Nathan (Janelle) Burge and Sara (Stahle) Butler; grandchildren, Olivia Butler, Felicity Burge, Nora Butler, Stahle Butler Jr. and Amelie Burge; sister, Meredith (Walter) Stephens. Preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 53 years, Victor C. Burge Jr.

A celebration for of life for both Marla and Victor Burge will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Memorial contributions can be made to Manor Grove of Kirkwood, MO or Unity Hospice.
