Mary Jane Braun

She was born to Rudolph and Aurelia Veath, nee Meyer, on June 17, 1934, in Belleville. She married Lorain Braun on February 2, 1956, and enjoyed 51 beautiful years together before Lorain’s passing on June 6, 2007.

Mary Jane was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. She was a very talented seamstress/tailor. Also, she started/owned a production knitting business, SweaterSweats, creating and selling her own products at craft fairs and providing products to sell through consignment shops. Also, over the years, Mary Jane created numerous knitted adult, child, and infant hats that were donated to many nonprofit organizations. Mary Jane was a member of St. Teresa/St. Luke’s parishes in Belleville.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Aurelia Veath; father-in-law, Eugene Braun; mother-in-law, Mathilda Braun; husband, Lorain Braun; brothers, Robert Veath and Richard Veath; sisters, Joan Rogers, Verne Lee McHugh and Carolyn Metze; sons-in-law, James Ludwig and James Hale Sr., as well as beloved and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nephews.

Mary Jane is survived by her daughters, Barbara Braun, Julie (Jeff) Goedelman, and Nancy Hale (special friend Scott Graham); son, David (Rebecca) Braun; grandchildren, Gregory (Sabrina) Goedelman, Andrew Goedelman (fiancée Anna Wildermuth), Michael Overbey, James Hale Jr., Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Zachary Braun; great-granddaughter Marleigh Goedelman; sisters-in-law Rose Marie (Clarence) Wisnasky and Loveen (Richard) Veath; and many dear nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the numerous St. Paul’s Senior Community staff members for the loving care provided to Mary Jane over the last six years and to Family Hospice staff members for their compassionate care over the last three months.
