

She was a 1949 graduate of the nursing school at Christian Welfare Hospital where she
also worked. Jan also worked at Castle Haven Nursing Home for many years in many different nursing capacities and for a brief time at the Lincoln Home. She taught in the nursing program at SWIC for over 25 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Collinsville, Ill, and enjoyed traveling with the Monsanto Retirement Group.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Willie "Bill" Tate, whom died on January 28, 1991; her parents, Roy and Dana, nee Glover, Mitchell; and her sister, Merna (Abby) Winter.
Surviving are her three children, Billy (Olive) Tate of East Alton, Ill., Teddy (Bob) Meyer of Trenton, Ill., and Dave (Sheryl) Tate of Freeburg, Ill.; four grandchildren, Douglas (Trish) Meyer of Trenton, Ill., DeAnn (Mike) Jockish of Fenton, Mo., William Tate of Swansea, Ill., and David (fiance, Mollie Andressen) Tate of Freeburg, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Meagan Meyer and Tate Jockish; two sisters, Bea (Frank) Vigil of Vacaville, Calif., and Kathryn Hildum of Orlando, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Tate of Fort Smith, Ill.; and many dear nieces and nephews and especially all of her loving and caring friends that included Pat, Yolly, Mary, Debra Schopps and all of her other dear close friends

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Pastor Mark Finnie officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
