Michael Scott Weatherford

Mike was born March 3, 1968 in Litchfield, IL to Donald and Mary “Dianne” (Deets) Weatherford.

He is survived by his father, Donald Weatherford of O’Fallon, IL; sisters, Marci (Chris) Lowery of Caseyville, IL and Meghan (Eddie) Brown of O’Fallon, IL; his nieces and nephews, Quinn, Logan, Wyatt, Josie, Tessa and Milo; aunts and uncles, Jed Deets, Dave (Rose Ann) Deets, John (Michelle) Deets, Dan Deets, Jill Deets, Rick (Rhonda) Weatherford, Janette (Lindel) Stephens and many loving cousins; his close friend, Samantha; and his beloved four-legged friend, Francy.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mary “Dianne” Weatherford; paternal grandparents, George and Ruth Weatherford and maternal grandparents, Jim and Catherine Deets; aunt, Susan Deets; uncles, Tom Deets, Marvin Weatherford and Dennis Weatherford.

Mike graduated Belleville East High School, where he played varsity basketball. After high school, he attended Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He worked as car salesman with George Weber Chevrolet in the local area and Jimmy Smith Chevrolet in Athens, AL for many years. He was an avid sports fan, including cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers and always enjoyed following college football and basketball. He would often visit Fairmount Park Racetrack, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and watching the horse races. His earned his nickname “Magic Mike” and wore it proud after many lucky bets on horse races and sporting events.

Above all else, Mike loved his family dearly, especially his nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful uncle, son, brother, nephew and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew & loved him.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Fletcher's Kitchen and Tap, located at 3700 Old Collinsville Road, Swansea, IL, on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.

Memorial donations may be made to After the Races, an organization devoted to Rehabbing and Rehoming Thoroughbred Racehorses or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
