Mildred Martha Berger

Mildred was a jewel to all who knew and loved her. She possessed a spunky character and was always full of life. She had the distinct honor of being the only charter member of the First Christian Church in Belleville, until her passing. She married the love of her life, William, and to this union brought two children, Bill and Bobbie. She was a devoted member of the Personal Services for Older Persons, the Senior citizens quilting club, Jefferson School’s Mother’s club and Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers. Mildred also enjoyed working on puzzles, the outdoors, especially any yard work, and quilting. She was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma, great-great grandma, sister, aunt and friend who will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years; William Joseph Berger Sr.; her son, William “Bill” Berger Jr.; her parents Francis and Phoebe (nee Hodgetts) Westwood; her son in law, Norbert Rapp, her brother, Clarence Mullett and her sisters; Lilian Fix, Irene Taylor, Evelyn Cook and Nellie Burns.

Surviving her are her daughter, Bobbie Rapp; her daughter in law, Carole Berger; her grandchildren, Jay (Jane) Rapp, Mark (Jonell) Rapp, Todd (Karen) Berger, Jeff (Carrie) Berger, Tim (Carol) Rapp, Greg (Angela) Berger and William “BJ” (Kim) Berger III; her great grandchildren; Nicholas (Anna) Rapp, Michael Rapp, Thomas Rapp, Matthew Rapp, Timothy Rapp, Maggie Berger, David (Gabriella) Berger, Sydney Berger, Joey Berger, Justin Berger, Jessica Berger, Caleb Hatfield, Grace Rapp, Adam Rapp, Cody Berger, Blake Berger, Rob (fiancé Marissa Simon) Berger, and Tyler Berger; great-great grandchildren, Lyla, Noah, Jeremiah, Aaden and Tesla; her sister, Lucille Borsh and a number of dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3pm to 6 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral: Services will be held immediately following the visitation at 6 pm, Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Burial will take place privately in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
