I just learned of Nelda's passing and I want to express my sympathy to the Schmittling family.  She was a very nice lady whom I liked very much.  She always talked about her children and grandchildren...they were the light of her life....may she rest in peace..

We have so many fond memories of Grandma.  Some of the most memorable of them are the times when we would go over to Grandma's house and she would always boil water in the kettle and make cream of wheat for us.  For some reason it always seemed to taste better when Grandma made it.  At Christmas time we would always help to set up the decorations and play with the nativity scene, although I think we did more playing than setting up.

We would take turns brushing each others hair and rubbing each others feet.  One of our favorite memories of Grandma was when the three of us would all lie in the bed and scratch each others backs.  We would all face one way and scratch for awhile, then turn the other way so we would all have a turn getting our backs scratched.  Grandma would always be in the middle and we finally realized one day and said, "Hey Grandma why do you always get to be in the middle, you get to have your back scratched no matter which way we are facing.  But then she said, "Well yes, but I always have to be scratching someone's back the entire time."  I guess wise old Grandma had a way of looking at things from both perspectives.  So similarly, even though are saddened by her passing and will miss her dearly, we will always cherish those precious moments and celebrate her going home to the father as she talked of when she was still here with us.  We will remember her always for her loving sweet personality, positive attitude, enduring strength and especially her quick wit and humor.  We love you Grandma and look forward to seeing you one day again in Heaven!=

I was asked to say a couple of things about my grandma. As I reflect on what I wanted to say about her one thing keeps coming to my mind. Her unconditional love. It takes a special person to be a grandma. All of the love, attention, care, selflessness, my grandmother had all of these characteristics and more. She had so much love to give. I was the first grandchild so I thought I was the lucky one I could have this wonderful person all to my self. But of course I knew that wasn't meant to be. My grandmother had too much love to give to just one grandchild. God knew that her love was big enough for more than just one grandchild so he blessed her with 7 and then 4 great grandchildren you would think that would be too much for one person but not my grandmother. I think I can speak for all her grandchildren when I say that we were smothered in her love. And it was the best kind of love it was the love only a grandmother could give! The unconditional kind.

Sorry for your loss. Sorry I couldn't attend due to illness.

Sorry to hear of Nelda's passing.  She and I worked together in the 70's and 80's and most recently came back together through a 'dinner of the month club' with friends. Although I have not recently seen Nelda my memories are vivid and funny.  She was quite a lady and a great wife and mother.  She will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, today and in the future. We have been blessed to know the family.

I am saddened to hear of Neldas passing and wanted to send my condolences to the family. I used to live across the street from her on Peace Dr. and she was a kind and wonderful neighbor. May God give you the strength to guide your family through this difficult time.
