Phyllis Elene Branum, (formerly Burns), 82, of Potosi, MO, formerly of Caseyville IL and Gilmer TX, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.
Phyllis was born December 30, 1938, in Neoga, IL, to Grace Warner and Joe Ingram, adopted by Myrtle Goodpasture and Authur King Jackson. She married Donald Ray Branum on June 24, 1990. They shared 27 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mark Burns, one great-granddaughter, Isabella LaFrank, one brother, Gene Ingram and a sister, Helen Tilley nee Lybarger.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Peggy LaFrank of Potosi, MO, Robert (Francie) Burns of Anacortes, WA, and Karen (Chuck) Fowler of Phoenix, AZ; step-children, Deanna Achs, Lee (Rosa) Branum and David Branum; grandchildren, Dawn (Patrick) Marentette, Jared (Brandy) LaFrank, Brandi (Caleb) Griffin, Jacob (Elyse) Burns, Mark (Mara) Burns, Katelyn Fowler, Nicholas Fowler, Paul Achs III, Rachel Achs, Lance Branum, Jacob Branum, Rosa Lee Branum; 21 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandson; brothers; George (Loretta) Lybarger, Chuck (Marie) Ingram, and Bob (Vicki) Ingram and sisters; Mary (Glenn) Burbank, Pearl Landon and Louise Shook.
Phyllis worked as a riveter at McDonald Douglas in St. Louis, MO, before starting her career as a telephone operator, and later a manager, with Illinois Bell in Collinsville, IL. She continued throughout their transition to AT&T where she later retired while living in Dallas, Texas. Phyllis earned a Bachelors’ degree in Business Management from Dallas Baptist University. Phyllis was a devoted Christian and served as a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Phyllis was a very talented quilter and crafter. Above all else, Phyllis loved her family dearly and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s hospital.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 10:00 -12:00 with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 P.M. Graveside service and interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
