Richard Dale Goodwin

Richard was born September 26, 1942 in Belleville, IL to Lyman and Margie (St. John) Goodwin. He married Mary Bashaw on May 1, 1965 in Racine, WI. She survives and resides in Maryville, IL.

Also surviving are his children, Theresa (David) Fuesting, John (Dawn) Goodwin and Mary Claire Goodwin; granddaughters, Claire Fuesting and Elsie Goodwin; and siblings, Bill (Jean) Goodwin, Shirley Nevenner and Jerry (Cheryl) Goodwin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Juanita Paust, Dovie Iler, Danny Goodwin and Carole Rittenhouse.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He worked for more than 30 years with Anheuser-Busch Brewery in St. Louis. Richard was a simple man, enjoying wildlife, bird watching, a good cup of coffee, reading the daily newspaper, country music, vegetable gardening and fishing with his longtime “fishing buddies”.

Richard and Mary were longtime residents of Fairview Heights. Richard enjoyed reminiscing and learning all he could about the history of the town that they once called home. Above all else, he enjoyed his family and the time they shared together. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation rites have been accorded under the direction of Lake View Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
