

Ronnie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was the second generation, owner /operator, of McAteer’s House of Lights, with his brother, Ray. He loved classic cars and was a member of the Piston Pushers and Gear Jammers Car Clubs. He also enjoyed motorcycles; he was a member of the Iron Butt Association and completed two rallies in 1995 and 1997. He was an avid walker, and enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie J. and Catherine E., nee Goff, McAteer; his son, Mark J. McAteer, Sr.; a granddaughter, Shelby A. Guthrie; and a brother, Raymond O. McAteer, Sr.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Karen A. McAteer, nee Steadman; his children, Ronald W. (Pam) McAteer, Jr., a daughter-in-law, Pam (Mark Sr.) McAteer, Carleen A. (Tim) Guthrie, and Laurence (Angelica) McAteer; his grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) McAteer, Annie (Zeb) Hammond, Peggy (Art) Martin, Paula (Tom) Haniszewski, Mark J. (Allison) McAteer, Jr., Paige McAteer, Kelsey Guthrie, Jack Guthrie, Brooke McAteer, Morgan McAteer, Lawson McAteer, and Mason McAteer; great grandchildren, Adeline, Reese, and Vann; and sister-in-law, Mary L. McAteer, and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family extends a special thank you to all of the wonderful ladies of the 400 wing of Sycamore Village, Swansea, Illinois, and VITAS Hospice.

Visitation: Saturday, January 3, 2015, from 12 Noon to 2 p.m., at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at church with Msgr. David M. Darin officiating. Interment will be held privately in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
