

Roscoe (Bud) Leo Geschwend Jr., 80, of Belleville, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 27, 2022, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born on June 8, 1941, in Murphysboro, IL to Roscoe and Ella Mae (nee Berger) Geschwend. He married Carol Roth on September 12, 1964, in Belleville, IL.
First and foremost, Bud was a family man…….to his parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, and his wife of 57 years, Carol, who was his high school sweetheart and love of his life. He was kindhearted, caring, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.
Roscoe graduated from Belleville Township High School West in 1959. After graduating High School, he went on to Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to further his education and received his Master’s in Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Roscoe taught at Shiloh Elementary School as a 4th grade teacher the majority of his 30-year teaching career. In 1978, he opened a teacher supply store – The Teacher’s Aid and continued to operate the store after retiring from teaching in 1994.
Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe L. and Ella Mae (nee Berger) Geschwend, father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Geneva Roth.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Jean (nee Roth) Geschwend, three children, Jodie L. (Jeff) Massey of Justin, TX, Teri K. (James) Monken of Swansea, IL, Richard E. (Keo) Geschwend of Belleville, IL; 12 grandchildren, Kylee (Brandon) Armstrong, Dran (Michelle) Crenshaw, Elanee Crenshaw, Cole (Kate) Massey, Kristin (Austin) Aune, Brian Massey, Taylor Monken, James C. Monken, Sophia Monken, Rachel Monken, Veronica Geschwend, Grace Geschwend; 4 great grandchildren, Braidyn Armstrong, Lily Armstrong, Molly Massey, Palmer Aune; siblings, Eugene (Gene) Geschwend, and Diana (Robert) Sims.
Please join us in celebrating his life. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
