

Roy Eugene Fisher, 99, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026. Born January 2, 1927, in Benton, Illinois, to William Thomas Fisher and Mary Leona Glenn Fisher, Roy spent his childhood in Benton and graduated from Benton High School. He furthered his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale from 1948 to 1950 and at a technical school in Valparaiso, Indiana.
A proud veteran, Roy served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Charles Lawrence in the South Pacific. On May 2, 1952, he married the love of his life, Wilma Jean Fisher, beginning a beautiful partnership that would last decades.
Throughout his career, Roy worked as an electronics technician on the Nike Missile System and as a radar technician for the Federal Aviation Administration. After retiring in 1987, he and Jean moved to Mt. Vernon, Illinois, where they enjoyed many happy years together. In 2015, they relocated to O’Fallon Mo to be closer to their daughter Ruth Ann who helped care for he and his wife Jean until their passing
Roy had a deep love for music, softball, and serving his faith community. His passion for music was evident in his many years of service as Music Leader at Suburban Baptist Church in Granite City, Illinois, and Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He also joyfully led a barbershop quartet in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma Jean Fisher; his parents, William and Leona Fisher; brothers Charles Edward Fisher and Virgil Don Fisher; sisters Ruby Maxine Taylor and Betty June West; grandson Justin Adams; and daughter-in-law Gina Fisher.
Roy is survived by his children: Robert Wayne Fisher of Sarasota, Florida; Karen (Brian) Musser of West Lafayette, Indiana; Ruth (Brian) Adams of O’Fallon, Missouri; and Alan Fisher of Owensboro, Kentucky. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, located at 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL, on January 13, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The funeral service will follow at the same location on January 13, 2026, starting at 12:00 pm.
A committal service will be conducted at Lake View Memorial Gardens following the service, where Roy will receive military honors.
