She was born on May 11, 1932, in Lilburn, MO, to the late Cammie Eugine and Maudie Lee (nee Lawson) Whittington.
Ruby was a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated homemaker who built a life rooted in family and faith. She shared 68 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. As a proud mother of four, she cherished every moment spent with her children and extended family, finding joy in the simple togetherness of family gatherings. A loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan, she rarely missed a game and loved cheering on her team. Her legacy of love, devotion, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, Dalton J. Box, whom she married on November 2, 1951; seven siblings: Pearl Rawlings, Opal Ford, Walter Whittington, Atlina Fuller, Lorine Winston, Virgil Whittington, and Shirley Parson; and son-in-law, Allen Keller.
She is survived by her children: Rick (Linda) Box of Highland, IL, Terry (Lori) Box of Highland, IL, Gary (Patti) Box of Collinsville, IL, and Gwen Keller of Troy, IL; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Coleman; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Dave Harrellson officiating.
Burial will be followed by the service at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
