

Ruth Mae Ziska of Dawsonville, Georgia passed peacefully August 5, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Dementia. Ruth, age 92, was a devoted wife, mother, sister, homemaker, caregiver and friend. Her greatest accomplishments were not measured by titles or awards, but by the lives she touched and the family she dedicated her life to.
Ruth was the beloved wife of Ronald Ziska and a devoted mother to her three daughters Gay Lynn, Leslie Ann and Penny Dale Ziska.
Her family was at the heart of her life, and she will be remembered for her kindness, strength, dedication and the countless ways she showed her love, especially being a caregiver for many years to daughter Leslie who had juvenile diabetes, and Ron Ziska, both who are pre-deceased along with an older sister, Evelyn Rensing (Ray) and brother-in-law, David Ziska.
She is survived by daughters Gay Lynn Ziska (Greg DiStefano) and Penny Dale Ziska, sister Shirley Baldwin (Don Baldwin), and brother Pete Mode (Pat Mode), sister-in-law Julie Ziska, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives on both Ruth and Ron’s side of the family.
Ruth Mae Sporleder was born on April 23, 1934, in Caseyville, Illinois to parents Mary Elizabeth Bevirt and Hans Sporleder. She met future husband Ronald Dale Ziska at Belleville High, and they married in 1956 and shared 61 wonderful years together before Ron passed in December 2017.
After retiring from Real Estate and GTE, she spent her retirement years in North Georgia and loved to travel, play cards and games, and spend time socializing with friends and family. Those who knew Ruth will always remember her spunky personality and how she was always ready for a party and available to lend a hand to anyone in need of help.
Ruth will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew her, the love she gave her family will remain with them forever and her legacy lives on through her children, family, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Visitation will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208, US, on August 13, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service. Ruth will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens.
A Committal Service will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL, on August 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
