Shirley Ann Miller

Shirley was born May 5, 1937 in Rockford, IL to Austin and Mary (Davis) York. She married Carl Miller Sr. on October 3, 1953; he preceded her in death on May 18, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Terry Miller and Ronnie Miller; her two sisters, Margaret Keen and Grace Demontney; and one brother, Ed Davis.

Shirley is survived by her loving family, including her children, Carl (Rolanda) Miller of Troy, IL, Valerie (Paul) Grams of Rockford, IL, Bonnie (Juan) Rodriguez of Rockford, IL and John Miller of Rockford, IL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John (Linda) York of Stillman Valley, IL.

Shirley worked as a cook for the Rockford School District at their Nature Camp for many years. She loved to garden, whether it be tending to her vegetables or caring for her beautiful flowers.

She could often be found caring for her family and providing delicious, made-from-scratch meals for all to enjoy together. Her talents in the kitchen were endless and will be a treasured memory for years to come.

Shirley will be fondly remembered as a tough, strong-willed woman but also a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who treasured her family dearly. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held for Shirley, as well as her beloved husband, Carl Miller Sr., and her son, Ronnie Miller on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

A time of gathering will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Inurnment for all will be held at a later date at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
