

Thelma C. Scharf (nee Rose), 95, born on November 25, 1918 in East St. Louis, IL passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Thelma was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights. She loved to bowl and at one time participated in two leagues at Panorama Lanes. She and her husband were members of the Belleville/Swansea Moose Hall and danced every Saturday night, often winning the costume contests. Thelma loved to travel and some of her travels included Europe, China, and the Panama Canal. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dora (nee Yager) Rose; her husband, William Scharf whom she married on May 20, 1944; and 5 brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Al (Carol) Scharf, Bob (Sharlene) Scharf, and Jim (Laura) Scharf all of Seattle, WA; daughters, Debbie Scharf of Fairview Heights, IL and Pam (Mark) McAdams of Jamul, CA; 5 grandchildren, Laura (Bob) Deatherage, Linda (Tim) Conner, Steve (Jenni) Scharf, and Tom and Danielle McAdams; 6 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Mildred Voss, Virginia Miller, and Gloria Burckhardt.
Mrs. Scharf chose to donate her body to St. Louis University so that others may learn and a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights, IL.
