Theodore “Ted” H. Dressel, 78, of Edwardsville, IL, born, July 9, 1940, in St Louis, MO, passed away, Monday, July 30, 2018, in St Louis, MO with his loving family by his side.

Theodore more affectionately known as Ted to family and friends, possessed a charismatic personality. To know Ted was to love him. There are so many traits that made up his humorous persona and loving personality towards his family. He married the love of his life, Brenda Benhoff, on June 26, 1965. This beautiful union brought three children, Lisa, Laura and Keith. Ted graduated from the University of Missouri Rolla with his Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering. He worked at General Factories in Macomb IL, and retired from Locke Insulators in Baltimore Maryland in 1999, after 32 years. He was a life-long member of the Local 520 Granite City operating engineers and Knights of Columbus Council 1143, in Edwardsville, where he was a 4th Degree member. Ted also was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville, serving as an usher and monthly money counter.

He was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed, camping, the outdoors, crabbing and building crab traps, specifically Blue Crabs from Maryland, boating, being a member of his motorcycle club and traveling on his Honda Gold Wing across 48 states and Canada, and square dancing. His most precious and memorable moments were those spent with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, dad, pop pop, great pop pop, father-in-law, uncle, and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Theodore H. Dressel Sr. and Helen (nee Rohm) Dressel, and his brother, William “Billy” Dressel.

Surviving to cherish memories are his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Dressel, of Edwardsville, IL, children: Lisa (Bob) Holquist, of Chatham, IL, Laura (Tom) Yockel, of Sykesville, MD, and Keith Dressel, of Crofton, MO, grandchildren: Brittany (Brett) Dickson, Jordan Holquist, Chris Musick, Tyler (Kelly) Yockel, Kayla Yockel, and Justin Yockel, his great-granddaughter, Ellie Grace Dickson, a step-sister and step-brother, and a number of dear relatives and friends.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, August 3, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.

Funeral Service: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Lake View. Interment to be held privately at Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

I worked with Ted as a voter judge fish fry bar & as motorcycle riders Enjoyed sharing stories & chatting it up Both of us were talkers. He was a good man& enjoyed his company. Will miss him. Jim Albus
