Tommie Lou Sorrell

Tommie was a loyal member of the Swansea Baptist Church, where she was involved in Sunday school, the food pantry, and enjoyed planning and participating in many fun activities with the senior church group. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a, Girls in Action and Cub Scout Leader, crafter, and flower gardener. Her other passion, in addition to Sunday morning church, were Saturdays, spent at the beauty shop with her sister, Louise and meeting their brother, Robert, afterwards for lunch. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Collinsville Chapter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. If it is true, a life lived well, lives on; Tommie will live on and on, in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years, Norman K. Smith; her parents, Thomas F. and Hattie P., nee Jones, King; a brother, Floyd “Bud” King, and three sisters, Elizabeth “Sis” Williams, Ruby Davis, and Margaret “Louise” Jacobs.

She is survived by her second husband of 24 years, Sherwood W. Sorrell, of Waterloo, Illinois; her children, Thomas “Skip” (Linda) Smith, of St. James, Missouri, Nancy Smith, of Evansville, Indiana, Carl (Kris) Smith, of Baldwin, Illinois, and Tina (Robbie) Aubuchon, of Red Bud, Illinois; her grandchildren, Allen (Amy) Smith, Teresa (Jim) Homfeld, Norman Thompson, Ayron (Jenny) Thompson, Carl Smith, Jr., Casey Smith, Barbara Smith, Richard Smith, Eli (Jackie) Aubuchon, and Sarah (Kevin) Phegley; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Wilson Wickiser officiating. Interment will be held privately in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
