

Jetta was born on July 22, 1947 in Springfield, Illinois, to Joseph and Edna (Sokolis) Fickas. She built a life rooted in love, faith, and dedication to her family. A proud Christian woman, her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Jetta began her professional journey at Franklin Life, where she worked diligently as a chef before retiring and transitioning to a role with Springfield School District 186, as well as becoming a part-time waitress at The Heritage House Buffet. She served in the cafeteria with the school district until her retirement in 2011. Her work ethic and gentle spirit made her a beloved presence among colleagues and students alike.
Family was the cornerstone of Jetta’s life. She shared many cherished years with her husband, Tom Conway, who preceded her in death. Together they raised three children: Patty (Scott) Howard, Tom Conway, and Daniel Conway. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren - Jennifer (Tyler) Knudson, David (Cheyanne) Richardson, Courtney (Anthony) Swarringin, Kaitlyn Conway, and Kyle Conway and nine great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years. She was always known as “Nana”.
Jetta is survived by two brothers, Bernie and Bobby and one sister, Betty. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Kenny, John, and Joey and two sisters, Donna & Sharon.
Known for her loving nature and generous heart, Jetta found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking and baking for those she cared about, tending to her flowers with pride each season, and spending quiet moments on puzzles. Her gentle demeanor and unwavering kindness touched countless lives.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services held.
