Cassandra Marie Thompson, 43, of Elyria, Ohio, and formerly of Emlenton, PA, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by her family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 16, 1982, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Bill Thompson and his wife Julie of Pittsburgh, PA and Ellen Macurak and her husband John of Sligo, PA who survive.
She was a 2001 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School and a 2004 graduate of the Median School of Allied Health Careers in Pittsburgh, where she studied orthotics and prosthetics. She was working as an assembler at Eberhard Manufacturing until she became too ill.
Cassandra had a passion for art and music, as well as a talent for both. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family, watching horror movies, and attending family gatherings. She was fiercely independent, funny, and had an infectious laugh.
Above all, Cassandra was a supportive and loving mother who was happiest when she was with her children. She never gave up fighting or the hope that she’d beat cancer so she could be here for her kids, and never complained once about her struggle.
In addition to her parents, Cassandra is survived by her precious children, Myles Bondi, Donovan DeJarnett, and Shelby DeJarnett; her siblings, Damon Thompson and his wife Holly of Eau Claire, PA, Nichoel Behun and her husband Mike of Butler, PA, Kristi Runyan and her husband Zach of Pittsburgh, PA, and Chelsea Neal and her husband Matt of Pittsburgh, PA; her grandfather, Blair “Jack” Barger of Parker, PA; her nieces and nephews, Kaylie, Brady, Stacie, Jaynie, Louisa, Julia, Robbie, and Eliana; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilbert “Wib” and Hazel Thompson of Eau Claire, PA and Shelby Barger of Parker, PA.
Celebration of Life services are pending.
