A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Claire leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service to her community. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William.
Claire was the cherished mother of David, Paul (Angie), Joseph (Sheranne-deceased), Anne Rutz (Allen), Elaine Boone (Jeff), Laura Kinerk (Keith), and Linda Berne (Jason). She was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren; Erik Kemme (Shawna), Peter Kemme (Laila), Caroline Baker (Christopher), Catherine Kemme, Meredith Supe, Aaron Kemme, Olivia Leverette (Dawson), Sierra Kemme, Ashley Kemme, Joseph Kemme, Christin Mercedes (Michael), David Rutz (Eva), Gretchen Leist (Eric), Elizabeth Boone (Brian Cronin), William Boone, Angela Kinerk, Edward Kinerk (Morgan), Isabel Kinerk, Egan Berne (Jordan Potts), Claire Berne, August Berne, and 4 great-grandchildren: Lena Supe, John Cronin, Amira Kemme, and Penelope Mercedes.
Preceded in death by her parents, Martha Louise Janszen and Albert Lawrence Schneider.
Claire is also survived by her loving siblings, Joan Popken (John - deceased), Martha Sims (Bill), Mary Jo Martin (John), and Larry Schneider (Pam), as well as many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong member of St. Angela Merici Church, including the Ladies Guild, Claire was dedicated to her faith and her church community. She was a long-time volunteer with the Discovery Shop for the American Cancer Society. Her love for service extended to sewing baby bibs for Christenings. Claire’s passions included playing bridge and traveling.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Claire’s life at Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Church, 20790 Lorain Rd. Interment will follow at Lakewood Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, Claire requested that contributions be made to St. Angela Merici’s Guardian Angel Program or Hospice of the Western Reserve (hospicewr.org).
