Liz Graduated from Saint Joseph Academy in 1965 followed by graduating from Mercy School of Nursing in 1968.
She served as an RN for much of her life starting in 1968 and until her retirement in 2014. Much of her nursing career was as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse at Prince Georges County Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland. Regardless of prognosis or outcome, Liz was a vessel of God’s grace and compassion for every infant she cared for.
She Played basketball starting in CYO at Our Lady of Angels through college at Mercy School of Nursing. She was part of the team that had won back-to-back state nurses basketball titles (’66 and ’67). Known for good guard play and tenacious defense.
Liz was widely regarded as the “Disseminator of Greeting Cards” to her large family. Every family member could rely on her for a card on the exact date of their birthday or special occasion. Liz also possessed the gift of finding the right card for her intended recipient.
Her left-handed cursive was both a source of pride and a testament to her stubbornness after so many years of nuns smacking her left hand in primary school to get her to write with her right hand.
Liz was devoted to her Catholic faith by attending daily mass at St Raphael Catholic Church in Westlake. Prior to mass she dedicated her mornings to prayer to ensure all family members were covered for that day.
She committed all her energy to raising her three sons much on her own, never thinking of herself and sacrificing everything for her boys. She strived to have well-mannered young men that made their respective families the highest priority.
