Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Reed Lear; his sister, Joan Lear; and his first wife, Mary Alice. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne Pasela Lear; and his step-children; Mark Ostrowski (Brenda), Richard Pasela, Maria Pasela Brooks (Mark), and Brian Pasela (Tonette), as well as many beloved step-grandchildren.
To know Jerry was to encounter a man whose kindness was consistent. He lovingly cared for his parents for many years as well as for his first wife Mary Alice.
Jerry loved and lived his Catholic Faith. For 25 years he led a monthly men's faith-sharing group at St. Angela's. He also served as a lector and an Extraordinary Minister. He will always be remembered as being kind, loving, generous, and forgiving.
Visitation will be held at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, OH 44126, on October 14, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 20970 Lorain Rd, Fairview Park, OH 44126, on October 14, 2026, at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Rd, Brook Park, OH 44142.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to St. Angela Merici Catholic Church.
