Beloved wife of 39 years to John Streitel; caring mother to Jacob Streitel (Stephanie); loving Grams to Lucy and Franklin Streitel; cherished sister to Pam Bugara (Paul) and Mark Croessmann; colorful friend to many.
Sue lived life with an exuberance that was contagious. She was a lover of fun and humor, quick to make a joke or share a laugh, and always up for an adventure. Whether it was a party she’d planned, a new recipe she was eager to try, or a trip to a new place, her energy was infectious, and everyone who knew her was better for it. Her quirky, eclectic tastes were evident in every part of her life, from her over-the-top Christmas decorations to her love of "kitsch" and her colorful sense of style.
Sue graduated from Rocky River High School, class of 1974 and attended college at Bowling Green State University, graduating in 1978. She taught kindergarten, first and second grade for 31 years and touched the lives of countless students and left a lasting impression on everyone. Her thoughtful and reliable nature extended beyond the classroom. She was known for remembering birthdays, making lists and for the joy she found in shopping for the perfect gift. Her love for planning parties, decorating, and hosting gatherings was unmatched; she found great purpose in celebrating the people she loved.
Sue was a foodie at heart, always keeping up with the latest restaurant trends and cooking gadgets. A master in the kitchen, she could be counted on to whip up a delicious meal for any occasion. She always kept up with family traditions, such as the famous cheese fondue for Christmas. Her love for food and cooking was only rivaled by her passion for music—especially rock and pop, which she blasted on the radio.
With a fondness for beach days, drinks with friends, and treasure hunting for unique yard decorations, Sue’s personality was as vibrant as her eclectic style. She was also a huge sports fan, especially the hometown Cleveland Guardians, Cavs, and Browns. As a confidant to many, she had an incredible memory for names preferences and making you feel heard and loved.
A woman with a strong moral compass, Sue was a political activist dedicated to advocating for the rights of minorities and women. Her heart was as generous as her spirit, always ready to lend her time, treasure and empathy. She was known for her dogged determination—once she set her mind to something, there was no stopping her. A force to be reckoned with, she had a gift for bringing people together and weaving tight-knit social circles. Sue had an adventurous spirit, enjoying everything from picking wine based on amusing labels to collecting kitschy items that told a story. Her love for traditions, fashion and her vivacious, energetic nature made her unforgettable to anyone she met.
