Agnes T. (Foley) Blais, L.P.N., age 92, wife of the late Albert J. Blais Sr., a life-long resident of Fall River with a distinguished career in nursing, died July 18, 2011 at the Fall River Jewish Home where she was a resident for the past three years. She celebrated her 92nd birthday on April 25th.
Daughter of the late John and Anne (Malone) Foley, she was predeceased by a son, Kenneth J. Blais, and a daughter Helen Sitzman. She is survived by two sons, Albert J. Blais Jr. and his wife Winnie of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Richard J. Blais and his wife Maria of Auburn, Mass.; two daughters, Patricia McGovern of Sun City, Fla., and Susan M. Gordon and her husband Bob of Fall River, Mass.
She also leaves 21 grandchildren and many great - and great-great grandchildren.
She worked for several Fall River textile companies before beginning her career in nursing as an aide and then as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Among the medical facilities where she worked were the Rose Hawthorne, the former Fall River General Hospital, Truesdale Hospital and Cliff Nursing Homes where she was head nurse at Cliff Gables on Middle Street until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling and reading and was a member of the Heritage Park singers for several years. She received an Associate’s Degree from Bristol Community College at the age of 67.
She loved her family and will be dearly missed by them and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family would like to thank the staff of the Fall River Jewish Home for the loving care they provided during her residency.
Her Funeral will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter Street Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover Street Fall River. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor made be made to the Salvation Army P.O. Box 444, Fall River, MA 02721. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
