Alipio A. “Big Al” “Flea” Amaral, age 67, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lori J. (Hoar) Amaral to whom he was together for 25 years and married for 15 years.
Born in Bretanha, Azores a son of the late Alipio and Isabel (Estacio) Amaral he was a lifelong resident of Fall River.
A Foreman for Amaral Roofing, he worked in the roofing industry for 51 years before retiring. His biggest love was his family, he enjoyed family dinners, spending time with his children and grandchildren and visiting with Jax, his loyal K9 companion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Melanie Amaral and her fiancé Virgil Oyola and Vernon J. Amaral; three step children, Edward “Teddy” Mathias and his wife Traci, Julie Mathias and her fiancé Michael Pavao and Kasey Mathias and her fiancé Michael Sewall; one sister, Connie Botelho and her husband Kenny; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law, Viola S. Hoar. He was the brother of the late Manuel A. Amaral and Isabel Desrosiers.
The family would like to offer special thanks and appreciation to the Charlton Cancer Center and Southcoast Hospice for their support and services.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 10:00 to 12:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a Celebration of Al’s Life in the Funeral Home at 12:00 PM. Contributions may be made in his honor to Southcoast Hospice, 200 Mill Rd., Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial will be private.
