Anne Marie Sullivan Collins

Born in Fall River the daughter of the late James H. and Anna (Smith) Sullivan, she was a lifelong resident of the city and a 1946 graduate of BMC Durfee High School.

Mrs. Collins was employed as an Office Manager for the former Gitlin Brothers for over 10 years and also worked for the Fall River School Department in the Administration building for several years. Prior to that Mrs. Collins was a United States Navy Veteran during the Korean War where she was stationed in the U.S. Embassy in London, England and the US Pentagon in Washington D.C.

She was a member of the Grand Squares in Portsmouth, RI, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles and gardening.

Mrs. Collins is the mother of Shirley A. Barboza and her husband Charles of Fall River, Patricia Collins-Guilmette and her husband Robert of Harrisburg, PA, William J. Collins Jr. and his wife Debi of Marrietta, GA, the late James Joseph Collins and his wife Annie of Appleton, WI, Margaret M. Collins and her husband James Gagnon of S. Dartmouth, Joseph M. Collins and his wife Janet of Marrietta, GA, Anne M. Collins and her wife Susana of Fall River and Elizabeth V. Long and her husband Stephen of Rumford, RI; sister of James H. Sullivan and his wife Dorothy of Somerset and Margaret Pimental and her husband James of Fall River, sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Collins was also the sister of the late Rev. Walter A. Sullivan, Dennis J. Sullivan, Mary A. Lachapelle and John J. Sullivan,

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178Winter St., Fall River followed by her funeral mass at 10am in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Visiting hours Wednesday 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care 502 Bedford St., Fall River, MA 02720.
