Antonio J. Ferreira, age 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in St. Ann’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Adriana J. (Faria) Ferreira with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal the son of the late Manuel V. and Mary J. (Cabral) Ferreira, he immigrated to the United States in 1954. He was a resident of Fall River for many years before moving to Westport.
Mr. Ferreira was a Construction Worker for the Cardi Corporation for 40 years before his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed being a crossing guard in Fall River and taking care of his yard.
Mr. Ferreira was a founding member and active participant of the Fall River Sports Club, where he loved to play cards with his friends. In his younger years, he played on their soccer team. He delighted in eating corn on the cob and watermelon, but especially the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Antonio J. Ferreira, Jr. of Westport, Susanne Tavares and her husband Robert of Westport and Paul Ferreira and his wife Jennifer of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Ashley Mulligan and her husband Christopher, Alyssa Tavares and Alexander Tavares and his wife Katie and many nieces and nephews.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited.
