Banyen (Ong) Chea, “Yen,” age 81, of Fall River, passed away, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. She was the wife of the late Sarun Chea who recently passed away on April 4th.
Born in Battambang, Cambodia, a daughter of the late Gong Leap Ong and Ye Som Ong, she was educated in Cambodia and taught while living there. She moved to the United States in 1984 settling in Fall River. She worked in a local fish market and then owned and operated a grocery store for many years.
She is survived by four daughters, Vibol Chea, Samol Chea and her spouse Phala Kuch, Sophia Samrith and her spouse Nuth, Terry Chea; four sons, Bunrith Chea and his spouse Ong, Nimol Chea, Resith Chea and Vechatkar Chea and his wife Vanna all of Fall River; one brother Say Paou, she is also survived by many grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Sam Rim.
Her visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 8:15 to 9:15AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00AM in the Chapel of Hope & Memory at Swan Point, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI. Relatives and friends are invited.
