Barbara A. (Santos) Durand, age 79, of Fall River, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 1, 2026. She was the wife of Richard Durand to whom she had been married to 60 years.
Born in Tiverton, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Evelyn G. (Banville) Santos. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Barbara worked as a mailroom clerk for Aetna and Travelers Insurance.
Barbara loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed playing bingo, completing crossword puzzles, music, dancing, and was especially fond of cats.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Christopher Durand and his wife Jessie of Somerset; two grandsons, Nathan Durand, and her sidekick Emmitt Durand; three siblings, Robert, Joseph, and Carol Santos, as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara was the sister of the late Edward and George Santos.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 4:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held immediately following the service from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
