Carol A. (Chouinard) Pilotte, age 69, of Tiverton, RI died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with mucosal melanoma. She was the wife of Leonard “Lenny” Pilotte with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 28th. Carol was a devoted mother to her children Eric Pilotte and his wife Christine, and Melissa Pavao and her husband Scott, loving Babchu to Brittany, Jacob and Phoebe Pavao, and her beloved and spoiled dog, Lucy.

Carol was born in Fall River to Adrien and Stella (Hebda) Chouinard, and lived in the city until moving to Tiverton in 1986. She graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1969 and earned her Associates Degree from Bristol Community College. Carol was the Office Manager for Acupuncture of Woo for over 25 years, and was a private housekeeper for several years.

Carol, who was affectionately called “Lorac” by family and friends, loved photography, was an avid gardener, and a wonderful cook. Her love of cooking, family, and her Polish roots culminated in “Pierogi weekend”: a tradition of making dozens of her favorite food with her family whom she enjoyed spending time with. Fueled by her competitive nature, she amassed a collection of bowling trophies and was a fierce trash talking opponent when playing horseshoes and darts at the many family parties she and Lenny hosted. She also enjoyed needlepoint and created beautiful ornaments that adorn many a Christmas tree.

Carol leaves a brother Ronald Chouinard, her Mother-in-Law Leonie Pilotte, and In-Laws: Patricia Chouinard, Joanne Chouinard, Corinne and Dick Winegardner, Normand and Sandy Pilotte, Claude and Lea Ann Pilotte, Claire and Barney Rousseau, Celeste and Tim McGreavey, Thomas Pilotte, and many nieces & nephews. She was daughter-in-law of the late Normand Pilotte and sister of the late William, Lawrence and Roger Chouinard.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd., Fall River followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday from 4-7 pm.

Lenny and family...
Carol was, and will always be, a part of our pond family. From our friendly chats while running into each other on the lane to our annual Halloween visits, Carol was always kind to the core. She treated Van as if he were one of her own and put so much thought and love into his goody bags and Christmas gifts which warmed our hearts. Our deepest sympathies to all of her family and friends....

We shared many good times and laughs. At least 2 times a year we got to wish each other a happy birthday on the phone. We miss and love you. Dick and Co

I met Carol in 2004 when Eric and I were first dating. Carol's warm, kind, and genuine personality always made me feel welcomed and part of the family. I'll miss our conversations and spending time with her immensely. Although there will be a void in my life without her presence, I am grateful and blessed to have had her as my mother-in-law. I will miss her tremendously.
I love you Carol

Eric, Melissa and family,
Our sincerest sympathy for the loss of your mom. I never realized that she was a Durfee classmate of mine. Knowing both of her children ( as well as Scott & Christina) is a testament to the wonderful mom and person she was. May she rest at peace . 🙏

Joan and I first met Carol after she and Lenny were married. Lenny and I (Art) go back to the 1950's at Stafford Pond, RI, where my family had a summer residence next door to the Pilotte family. We were cousins and very great friends. So, when we met Carol for the first time there was no doubt that she was the right girl for him. She was warm, friendly, and a great hostess whenever the families gathered. She and Lenny were "one" and that's how we always thought of them. Her passing leaves a big vacuum in Len's heart and life, as well in the hearts of everyone who was close to her. Joan and I were shocked to hear the news. We send our condolences to Lenny and the family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We would certainly have attended services if the Covid restrictions were absent. We will be with you in spirit!!

Carol was my high school buddy. We shared many good times together (dancing, driving the Ave. and even being a bridesmaid in her wedding)
I am so sorry to hear of her passing and also that I didn’t keep in touch.
Sending sincere condolences to Lenny and family.

From the very first time I met Carol she made me feel like part of the Pilotte Family! Her warm smile and caring nature always made everyone feel at home. She loved gardening and canning all the fruits of her work. Will never forget the times we shared recipes , also different ideas about planting stuff.
She was a devoted wife and mother . She had great values and stood by them with all her being . She was one of the strongest women I have ever met! She will be missed and thought of very often.
Sending my condolences to Lenny , Melissa and Eric & family
Love to all....
