

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christen E. "Christy" Bergeson, age 52, of Barrington, Rhode Island, who left us on August 21, 2025, at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
Christy was a devoted professional and the Managing Funeral Director of Wilbur Romano Funeral Home in Warren, RI, and Waring-Sullivan Funeral Homes in Fall River, MA. For 15 years, she served the Southcoast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island as a compassionate Funeral Director, supporting countless families during their most challenging times. Her commitment to her vocation was unparalleled, and her care for others was evident in everything she did. A graduate of Wheaton College, Christy found her true calling in funeral service, earning her degree from the Funeral Institute of the Northeast in 2012.
Beyond her professional achievements, Christy was passionate about creating a welcoming home and traveling to new destinations with her wife Becky. Creating spaces of comfort and warmth for others was a cherished passion, reflecting her generous spirit and nurturing nature.
Christy will be remembered not only for her professional contributions but also for the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her empathy and heartfelt approach to serving families will leave an enduring impact on her community.
She is survived by her wife, Rebecca "Becky" Chace Brewster of Barrington, her parents, Eric and Brenda (Shea) Bergeson of Nashua, NH; a sister Erica Jean and her husband Derek of West Topsham, VT; a niece Melissa E. Grant and her husband Kegan; nephews Ryan Lucas, Gabe and Julian Gewirtz; sister-in-law Kate Brewster and her husband Aaron Gewirtz; a great nephew Jameson Grant and a vast network of friends and loved ones who will deeply miss her.
A celebration of Christy's life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St in Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Her family will receive friends from 10-11am prior to her service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Atlantic Shark Institute, PO Box 17, Wakefield, RI 02880.
