

Claudette F. (Laliberte) Correiro, age 82, of Riverside, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late John R. Correiro.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Frances (Turgeon) Laliberte. Claudette was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1962, and went on to build a varied and rewarding career in banking, the arts and entrepreneurship.
A communicant of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, Claudette worked for many years at the Fall River Credit Union before following her entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, she operated a booth in the former Vinny’s Antiques in Seekonk and along with her friend Paulette, owned and operated a clothing store, the former LaEttes in Fall River. She later joined her daughter in operating The Accidental Artist in Newport.
Even in retirement, Claudette remained active and committed to serving others. She generously volunteered her time at St. Anne’s Hospital, with various hospice organizations and with The Auxiliary at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Claudette was also an active member of the Fall River Garden Club, the Fall River Art Association and the Little Theatre of Fall River. A talented and passionate artist, she especially loved painting and expressing her creativity in many forms. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends, repurposing antiques, sewing and, above all, spending time with those she loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Merriman and her husband, Ted, of Orr’s Island, Maine; her sons, John P. Correiro of Westport, Jason R. Correiro of Newport News, Virginia, and Justin W. Correiro of Fall River; her grandchildren, Jasper Merriman, Charlotte Correiro, John Correiro, Madison Correiro, Nora Correiro, Dylan Correiro, Max Correiro and Owen Correiro; her sisters, Joan McDonald of Fall River, Patricia Johnston of Newport and Ann Leonard of Newport; and her dear cousin, Ronald Laliberte of Newport. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Claudette was the sister of the late Noella Bolin.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Visitation will be held Monday, September 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
