

Born in Fall River, he was the son of Jacqueline A. (Massoud) Duarte and the late John Duarte, Jr.
A graduate of Diman Regional Technical High School, Bristol Community College, and New England Technical Institute of Technology, David was a Senior Mechanical Designer supporting the US Navy as a defense contractor for over 40 years, most recently at Serco, North America. Throughout his extensive career, he provided mechanical drafting and design expertise that resulted in the development of many critical weapon and vehicle systems including heavyweight and lightweight torpedoes, exercise torpedoes, and HARPOON missile systems, many of which are still in use today. His most recent contributions were in the areas of uncrewed and autonomous underwater vehicles. He was a respected friend to many colleagues within the defense community on Aquidneck Island.
In addition to his wife and mother, David is survived by two sons, David Francisco Duarte and Jeffrey Andre Duarte of Fall River; two siblings, Jeffrey Duarte and his wife Patricia of Church Falls, VA and Doreen Duarte Zebdi and her husband Khalil of Ashburn, VA, as well as his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A devoted husband, father, and son, David will be remembered for his beautiful heart and for putting his family and others before himself.
His Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 N. Eastern Ave., Fall River with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
