Born in New York City, New York, a son of the late Duarte and Irene (Baker) Lima, Eddy was raised in Fall River, Massachusetts. He relocated to New York and after obtaining his degree and getting married, he returned to Massachusetts, where he raised his family in Swansea. Eddy has been living in Fall River with his daughter Tracy and son in law David and granddaughter Logan for the past 6 years.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1958, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for three years as an Aircraft-Engine-Mechanical Helper. While in the Navy he earned the Good Conduct Medal First Award. Eddy went on to earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science with Honors at New York City Community College. Eddy was a skilled artist and avid tennis player. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jennice Baptiste of Taunton, Tracy Duarte and her husband David of Fall River; one sister, Gloria and her husband James “Buddy” Murphy; three brothers, Theodore, Alfred and the late Joseph Lima and his wife Pamela Lima; three granddaughters, Jessica and Jada Baptiste, Logan Duarte and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
His visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River from 9:00 – 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Rhode Island.
