Eileen A. (Gibney) Darcy, 98, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. The wife of the late James F. Darcy and daughter of the late Peter and Florence (Smith) Gibney, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River and also spent many happy summers on Riverside Drive in Tiverton.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Kerry Darcy Sullivan and her sister Marion P. Delaney. She is survived by her daughters Jayne Darcy and Kathleen M. Lucey, grandchildren Moira M. Sullivan, Margaret E. Sullivan, and James A. Lucey, great-grandchildren Hannah Vezina and Michael Sullivan, and eight nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and a longtime employee of New England Telephone Co., she was devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church until its closing and later of Holy Name Church.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St, Fall River, followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River.
