
Born in Fall River, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was the daughter of the late Dominic and Louise (Tamborella) Parento of Italy.
A former student of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Mrs. Mitchell went on to receive her GED at the age of 70. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry and as a floor lady for many years before retiring some 40 years ago. She was a member of Holy Rosary Merry Makers and the Women’s Guild ILGWU.
She is survived by her son: Joseph F. Mitchell and his wife Laurie of Westport, her daughter: Sharon E. Martin of Little Compton; five grandchildren: Brendan P. Martin and his wife Jennifer, Matthew C. Martin and his wife Rebecca, Cassandra M. Celico and her husband Bruce, Brigid E. Mitchell and her husband Nicholas Christ and Patrick F. Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren: Grady Landers, Rylan Landers, Hope C. Martin, Briley E. Martin, Benjamin C. Martin, Samuel P. Martin and William B. Martin; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rev. Gaspar Parente, Peter J. Parento, Dominic Parento, Louisa Parento, Josephine Toomey and Rose Rousseau.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:30am in Holy Rosary Chapel, 120 Beattie St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be Friday from 10 to 11am prior to her mass in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place 178 Winter St., Fall River. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
