Frances "Lorraine" Brennan

Frances “Lorraine” (Corgino) Brennan, age 86, died, Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the Philip Hulitar Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late John R. Brennan who predeceased her in 1999.

Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Frank L. and Evelyn (Eagan) Corgino, she had been a lifelong resident of the city.

She and her husband were the owners of the Fall River, Taunton and New Bedford Beauty Academies and the Belmont Club in Fall River.

Mrs. Brennan was a graduate of the former Dominican Academy. She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church. Mrs. Brennan was a member of the Charlton Women’s Auxiliary and a former member of both the Quequechan Club and the Fall River Country Club. The family enjoyed vacations in Tiverton, RI and Fort Myers Beach, FL for many years. She is remembered for her deep love of family and friends. Her beauty was only surpassed by her good deeds.

Mrs. Brennan was the loving mother of Priscilla Brennan Poirier of Fall River. She was the grandmother of Rebecca L. Heller Smith and her spouse Robert D. Smith of Charlestown, MA and John B. Heller and his wife Kristy of Tiverton, RI. She has two great-grandchildren: John R. and Duncan O. Smith. Mrs. Brennan’s four nieces are Frances A. Van Straten of Manchester, CT, Donna J. Farley of Abington, MA, Cynthia A. Simmons of E. Bridgewater, MA and Lorinda W. Corgino of Bristol, RI. Her five nephews are Charles E. Simmons Jr. of Whiting ME, Christopher D. Severini of Watertown, MA, Richard Severini of Newton, MA, David L. Severini of Amherst, NH, and John H. Severini of Amherst, NH. She was the sister of the late Rita Simmons, Angela Van Straten and Frank L. Corgino Jr. Mrs. Brennan was the sister-in-law of the late Ruth G. Severini and Beverly W. Corgino and aunt of the late Edward F. Simmons and Dulcie A. Severini.

Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 120 Beattie Street, Fall River. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Dana Faber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445 or to the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472-2782. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place.
