Frederic A. D'Adamo

Frederic A. D’Adamo, age 83, of Fall River, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Kathryn (Martin) D’Adamo to whom he had been married for 57 years. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Antonio and Elizabeth (DeBonis) D’Adamo and the brother of the late John and Joseph B. D’Adamo. He was the father of Joseph M. D’Adamo and Virginia A. Frank, father-in-law of Christopher E. Frank, and the proud and loving grandfather of Victoria and Christina Frank.

A graduate of Durfee High School (Class of 1945), Mr. D’Adamo served in the United States Marine Corps at the end of World War II. After his military service, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College and joined the accounting staff of the Fall River Electric Company. He eventually became Treasurer of FRELCO and then Assistant Comptroller of its predecessor, Eastern Utilities Associates. He was also the proprietor of F.A. D’Adamo and Associates, accounting and tax services. He was a lifelong sports fan and for many years was an avid participant in many duckpin bowling, softball and golfing leagues.

Mr. D’Adamo served as a commissioner on the Fall River Police Board, a board member of the Samaritans of Fall River, and the long-time treasurer of the Italian American War Veterans Post #10 in Fall River.

He was an uncle to Paul D’Adamo (wife Peggy) and T.J. (wife Brenda) and Nancy (husband Craig Moore) Holderness and is survived by several grand nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.

His family wishes to thank the staff of St. Anne’s Hospital and Steward Hospice for their kindness and their compassionate care during his last days.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 9AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, followed by his funeral mass at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Cathedral , Spring Street, Fall River. Visiting hours will be from 4PM to 7PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
