Born in Bkechtay, Lebanon, Georgette was the daughter of the late Karam and Sarah (Abou Rjeily) Karam.
They were married in January 1948. They left their beloved family and homeland to begin a new life in the United States. They made a way for so many more family members to follow in the years to come. Georgette initially went to work at the Fall River Knitting Mill before she and Sam co-founded Sam’s Bakery in Fall River in 1961. After years of hard work, sacrifice and dedication, the bakery has become a well-known staple in the community and beyond for 64 years.
Although she was born into a devout Orthodox family, once settling in Fall River, St. Anthony of the Desert became her beloved church home. Georgette was very charitable and enjoyed attending daily liturgy. She was a member of the Blessed Mother Guild as well as the Order of St. Charbel. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and hosting, days spent at the beach, going for rides, traveling and telling stories, especially about her homeland. Georgette will be remembered as a pillar of faith, courage, strength and wisdom.
