Born in Providence, he was the son of Alfred Heitkoenig of San Juan and Kimberly (Anderson) Couchon of Tiverton.
A graduate of St. Andrews School, Class of 2013, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Marketing from the University of Rhode Island where an internship for his degree led to the position of Marketing Manager and Brand Ambassador for a startup company in NYC, where he lived for 5 years until the pandemic brought him home to RI.
Hans continually blessed others with his warm spirit and irresistible joy of living. His easy smile and generous hugs were a perpetual gift to those in his life.
He was a lover of music and enjoyed concert going, most especially the Phish festivals which he enjoyed with his beloved brother and a large community of dear friends for over two decades. He was a generous soul who enjoyed sharing all that he was with loved ones. To call him a “people person” fails to describe how people of all ages gravitated toward him. Animals were also drawn to him. He had a special way with them and he was their passionate advocate.
In addition to his parents, he leaves behind, his brother, Carl Heitkoenig of Providence; his maternal grandfather, William B. Anderson of Barrington; his stepfather, Mark Couchon of Tiverton; his step-siblings, Tyler Couchon and his wife Liz and Ashley Couchon and her husband Steve Webster; his soul mate Erica DiNardo of Rye, NY and many adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, step-nieces and friends.
Contributions in his honor may be made to A.S.P.C.A., 600 Pennsylvania Ave., SE #450, Washington, D.C. 20003. Private arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, Fall River.
