Helen C. Grant

Helen C. (LeBlanc) Grant, age 99, of Portsmouth, passed away, Monday, October 11, 2021 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Francis Grant.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Tilman and Cecelia (Plante) LeBlanc.

Mrs. Grant worked as a Secretary at the Newport Underwater Weapons System Center for many years before her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed tending to her family’s gardens, basket weaving, knitting, classic movies but especially loved the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, William Grant and his wife Michele of Assonet, Sharon Gagne of Somerset, Nancy Wood and her husband Dr. Warren Wood of Portsmouth, Kathleen Reynolds of Bristol, RI; daughter-in-law, Arlene Grant of Sterling, CT; one sister, Doris Henry of Las Vegas, NV, ten grandchildren, Jason Grant and his husband Brian, Megan Bassett and her husband Randy, Crystal Rousseau, Dawn McDonough, Ty Gagne and his wife Erica, Jessica Gagne, Jennifer Malhotra and Dr. Kyle Wood and his wife Michelle, Dr. Lesly Wood and Chad Wood and his wife Laura, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard and Roland Grant, mother-in-law of the late Francis Reynolds and sister of the late Pearl Avilla and William, Edward and Norman LeBlanc.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, MA. Relatives and friends invited. Her visitation will be held prior to her service from 9:00 – 10:00 AM. Burial in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown. Auntie Helen was such a kind, thoughtful, loving person. We are so thankful to have many memories of sharing laughter, love and stories. Her visits were always a pleasure. Christmas Day visits were very special and the gathering of the many generations of cousins was such fun. We feel blessed.

I remember every Christmas Day, going to Grandpa and Grandma LeBlancs for leftovers from Christmas Eve and Auntie Helen would be there with Nancy, Chip, Sharon and their children... I loved listening to the stories of days gone by ♥️ I will cherish those memories of Auntie Helen
