

Born in Fall River a son of the late Michael J. and Helen F. (Shay) Sullivan he was a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1947, he proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. A lineman for 36 years, he retired from Nynex in 1991. A member of the New Bedford VFW #1531, he also belonged to the International Brothers of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #2222 and the Elks Lodge in Fall River. He enjoyed traveling and was very proud of his Irish heritage. A very social man, he never forgot a name, no matter how many years had passed.
He is survived by one son, Brian P. Sullivan, ret. FRPD and his wife Jennifer of South Dartmouth; one daughter, Karen E. Cummings and her husband Thomas of Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Cummings and his wife Tricia, Jeffrey Cummings and his partner Jamie Goldstein, Steven Cummings, Dr. Kylynn Barbero and her husband Timothy and Alexis Sullivan and her partner Kevin Braz; two great grandchildren, Sophie Rose and Thomas Henry Cummings and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Helen Sullivan.
His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
