Hercules J. Lopes, age 87, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 in Hope Hospice Care Center in Cape Coral, FL. He was the husband of the late Antonia D. (Benfeito) Lopes.

Born in Santa Maria, Acores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria da Conceicao (Perreira) Lopes.

Educated in Portugal, he was a member to the Portuguese Army and immigrated to the United States in 1966. He worked as a machine operator at Lightolier for many years before retiring in 2007. A devout catholic, he was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton and Santo Christo Church in Fall River.

He is survived by two daughters, Odelia C. “Dee” Novo and her husband Michael, Madeline Mullin and her husband Scott; three granddaughters, Sierra Kopale and her husband Bradley, Kiana Novo and her fiancé Julian Velazquez and Ashley Mullin all of Cape Coral, FL; one brother, Joao H. Lopes; two sisters, Helen Rego and Agnes Mare all of Fall River; three great-grandsons, Maddox, Ryker and Luca and several nieces and nephews.

His visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, his funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105
