

Hermano P. Lopes, age 72, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Ann (Guilherme) Lopes to whom he has been married for the past 47 years.
Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, a son of the late Joao
DaCosta Lopes and Guilhermina (Sousa) Lopes, he immigrated to the United States at the age of 15 having settled in Fall River.
He worked as a machine operator for Anderson Little, Duro Finishing and Swan Finishing for many years. He was a communicant of Santo Christo Church.
A huge soccer fan, he loved cheering on his favorite team Benfica. Music was his passion; he was an excellent saxophone player and enjoyed playing with local bands. He loved listening to Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles which helped him learn English when he came to the United States.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Stacy-Lee Lunger and her husband Nicholas of North Andover, MA; three brothers, Joao Lopes and his wife Eduarda of Fall River, Jose Lopes and his wife Gorette of Somerset, Antonio Lopes and his wife Grace of Tiverton; one grandson Sebastian Lunger and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Amelia Lourenço and Maria Do Ceu Lopes.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 10:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held prior to his service from 8:30 to 10:30AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to Fraxa Research Foundation, to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Fragile X Syndrome, 10 Prince Place, Suite 203, Newburyport, MA 01950 or online at fraxa.org in honor of his grandson Sebastian. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
