

Born in Assauen, East Prussia/Germany, daughter of the late Fritz and Anna (Kosack) Hoffmann, she immigrated to America in 1963. She was employed as a Nurse’s Aid for 36 years at Charlton Memorial Hospital retiring in 1999 and also worked for the City of Fall River School Department Lunch Program. She went to Nursing School in Munchengladbach, Germany.
Irma was a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 60, a member of South Coast Retirees Club, former member of the Fall River Democratic City Committee and while in Germany she was a member of the Red Cross Nurse Association.
Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Claudia D. Viens and her husband Scott of Fall River, one son: Steven A. Croteau of Yorktown, VA, two granddaughters: Crystal Croteau and Shaina Dayter, two great-grandchildren: Adriana Dayter and Briana Holder, one brother: Gerhard Hoffmann of Germany, five sisters: Elizabeth Bendig, Anita Wahl, Renata Kramer, Brigitte Bangert all of Germany and Gisela Van Den Bempt of Belgium. She was also sister of the late Herta Assauer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7PM.
