John A. Burke Sr.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late John F. and Sadie (Breen) Burke, he lived in Fall River before moving to Wappingers Falls, New York to live with his daughter and son-in-law in 2008.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, he was a Veteran of the United Sates Navy during World War II having served in the South Pacific.

He was a Fire Fighter for the City of Fall River before retiring in 1976. He was a communicant of Holy Name Church. Despite living in New York, he was a loyal Red Sox fan.

He is survived by one daughter; Patricia M. Gullick and her husband Jerry of Wappingers Falls, NY and two fabulous granddaughters whom he absolutely adored Margaret Gullick of Hanover, NH and Emily Gullick of Charlestown, MA who adored him just as much and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held Friday, October 14, 2011 at 10:30AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter Street Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover Street Fall River. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
