José G. Idoy

José G. Idoy, age 84, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the devoted husband of Catalina (Cerrato-Mendez) Idoy, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, José was a son of the late Pedro Idoy and Andrea Rivera.

A hardworking and dedicated man, José spent 47 years working in construction before retiring in 2004. Following his retirement, he and his family made their home in Fall River.

José was a man who found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching boxing matches and American football, spending time fishing, and singing Rancheras. Above all, his greatest happiness came from being surrounded by his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Catalina, he is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Kathy Idoy of Fall River; his stepdaughter, Salman Lineth Cerrato-Mendez of Fall River; his grandchildren, Nayely Kristyn Aguilera Cerrato, Daniel Guerra Cerrato and Ruth Alexandra Cerrato Mendez; his brothers, Octavio Idoy, Andre Idoy and Luis Morales; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by several sisters.

His Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited directly to church. Visitation will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Burial will be private.

José G. Idoy, de 84 años y residente de Fall River, falleció en paz el lunes, 21 de septiembre de 2026, en su hogar, rodeado del amor y el cariño de su familia. Fue el querido esposo de Catalina (Cerrato-Mendez) Idoy, con quien compartió 69 años de matrimonio y toda una vida de recuerdos.

Nacido en Guayama, Puerto Rico, José fue hijo de los fallecidos Pedro Idoy y Andrea Rivera.

Hombre trabajador y dedicado, José se desempeñó en la construcción durante 47 años, hasta su retiro en 2004. Después, él y su familia se establecieron en Fall River.

José disfrutaba de las cosas sencillas de la vida: ver peleas de boxeo y partidos de fútbol americano, ir de pesca y cantar rancheras. Pero lo que más feliz lo hacía era estar rodeado de su familia y sus amistades.

Además de su querida esposa, Catalina, le sobreviven su hija, Vanessa Kathy Idoy, de Fall River; su hijastra, Salman Lineth Cerrato-Mendez, de Fall River; sus nietos, Nayely Kristyn Aguilera Cerrato, Daniel Guerra Cerrato y Ruth Alexandra Cerrato Mendez; sus hermanos, Octavio Idoy, Andre Idoy y Luis Morales; y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas.

Varias de sus hermanas fallecieron antes que él.

La misa funeral se celebrará el martes, 29 de septiembre de 2026, a las 10:00 a. m. en la Catedral de St. Mary, en Spring Street, Fall River. Se invita a familiares y amistades a reunirse directamente en la iglesia. El velorio será el lunes, 28 de septiembre de 2026, de 4:00 a 7:00 p. m. en Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. El sepelio será privado.
